Pressure and humidity detector based on textile integrated waveguide

Abstract In the paper, a pressure sensor and humidity are designed as supplementary components of textile integrated waveguide (TIW) based on an artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) consisting hexagonal elements. Thanks to AMC, sewing electrically conductive side walls can be eliminated. Since operating in stop-band TIW, sensors do not influence transmission parameters provide additional functionality. For fabrication, three-dimensional knitted fabric was used substrate surfaces were created from self-adhesive copper foil. The simulated, manufactured measured frequency range 10 GHz 12 with reasonable agreement. sensitive manufacturing tolerances, higher insertion loss TIW observed compared simulations. Nevertheless, reduced when accuracy is improved.
